On Lisa's world, the United States has started to become obsessed with choosing their next leader. Mobs stand out in front of public buildings waving signs, the candidates go on television to insult and yell at each other, and for some reason, the only people considered seem to be men.

I don't think I'm ever going to stop preferring monarchies. They're so much less messy.

I wonder if that's a common thing. It seems odd, but...I suppose times change. I assume warfare and the like can't possibly decide everything in the time period I'm in now.

Sometimes it's succession, not warfare.

Well yes, there was always that option as well. I can't really imagine a country choosing their own leader, though. Things really can get strange over time.

This is why we use dictatorships! With us as the leaders, of course.

Exactly. The average citizen couldn't have the knowledge or experience necessary to make such a choice.

I prefer monarchies.

This country also changes leaders every four to eight years. Can you imagine the chaos?

You can't be serious. How would that even work?

I have trouble believing that it does.

I can't even begin to imagine the kind of utter madness that might cause.

My experience with gods hasn't been good.

I already think that a lot of what's going on right now is madness, and I'm sure it's only going to get worse. The actual election is ten months away.

I have plans about what to do if the entire society crumbles and we have to go somewhere else to keep Lisa safe.
